Case Studies / Discussions

47 Year old otherwise healthy female comes in to see me 7 days after being diagnosed with COVID 19 with a positive swab and classic signs and symptoms. A week later, now asymptomatic, still tests positive with the PCR nasal swab… then tests 2 more times positive a week apart. A month later starts developing mild symptoms again and is still positive. Incidentally IgG, sent to a national lab, was negative. Now what? 14 days more quarantine? When do we start testing again and what if she goes numerous more weeks positive?

I have had a lot of cases like this…. where patients seem to not be that sick (not hospitalized) but their symptoms linger. I just do not know if we need to keep checking PCR tests?
